It was unwarranted to give Obama the Nobel Peace Prize while his Administration considers various options on how to continue to escalate the war in Afghanistan and Pakistan and more generally American idiocy and violence. However, living in Europe (sort of), I can't really blame people outside the United States for expressing the naive expression of hope in brand Obama that most non-crazy Americans already have through their election. I have seen too many people who simply don't know what is actually happening or don't care enough about the nuances of America's role in the 'foreign' world to actively try to undermine their faith.
Or perhaps they are more insightful than Americans and believe this is the best that the United States can do and are rewarding us for doing it ;)
Why oh! why? Maybe at the end of his term after all has been said and done.
Watched a program in Democracy Now and I tend to agree with the observations of Naomi Klein and Tariq Ali. Esp. with Ali, that a better candidate might have been Noam Chomsky!
