Tidbit: Presidential Perspective

By: vivek on 26 Feb 2008

There's a picture circulating which is apparently supposed to paint Barack Obama in a bad light:

obama

I think Obama looks quite presidential.

Clinton India

UPDATE: Sepoy at Chapati Mystery proved me wrong. He's got a picture of Hillary and Chelsea matching matching.

Nice job with the Clinton shot :)

The Clinton campaign did not comment on the distribution of the photo, but campaign manager Maggie Williams said the Obama campaign's reaction was inflaming passions and distracting voters.

"Enough," Williams said in a statement. "If Barack Obama's campaign wants to suggest that a photo of him wearing traditional Somali clothing is divisive, they should be ashamed. Hillary Clinton has worn the traditional clothing of countries she has visited and had those photos published widely.

"This is nothing more than an obvious and transparent attempt to distract from the serious issues confronting our country today and to attempt to create the very divisions they claim to decry."

It's all well and good to say that Obama hasn't been vetted thoroughly enough and the Republicans will destroy him in the general election, but you don't have to do it for them. But maybe Hillary Clinton can win on a campaign of "my opponents are terrorists."

Kiss my ... turban, HRC...

As the Clinton campaign has suffered one defeat after another, the advice of Hillary’s chief strategist, Mark Penn, has been consistent: go negative. So yesterday, according to Drudge, a Clinton staffer leaked a photo of Obama in a turban to the ...

Brilliant.

Whether this is a smear external or internal to the Democratic contest, the Clinton campaign has spun this into a "boy who cried wolf" campaign about xenophobia and racism, while presenting themselves as "tolerant" and beyond "divisions."

Well-played. And absolutely disgusting.

So, when are they going to show us those pictures of Hillary in a pattu podavai?

Oh, right-- they don't exist.

I searched for about 15 min. but I couldn't find any photos of Clinton wearing anything else but the pantsuit.

I hope you're being sarcastic. The statement is wholly disingenusous. You don't release pictures of your brown-skinned opponent who had a Muslim step-father and lived in indonesia for a while and whose name is ONE LETTER from Osama--a problem that has frequently come up in the media--appearing in somali clothing. If you do happen to do that, it's probably not surprising that you would claim that the target of your tactics is being "divisive."
