Tamil demonstrators in Norway have broken into the Sri Lankan embassy in Oslo during a protest in the Norwegian capital, smashing windows and furniture.
No one was hurt in protest on Sunday, police said, and Norway later apologised to the Sri Lankan government, vowing better police protection at future protests.
In the last week, Oslo has seen several demonstrations by protesters attempting to pressure Norway to help bring an end the longrunning conflict in Sri Lanka between government forces and sepratist Tamil Tiger fighters.
Norway is one of four nations leading peace efforts in Sri Lanka.
Following protests outside the embassy on Sunday, an unknown number of protesters occupied the building for several minutes, Even Joerstad, an Oslo police superintendent, said.
"There were about 100 outside but we don't know how many went inside the embassy," he said.
"They were inside for about four or five minutes and then they went out."
